THE TANGERINE MOTEL

Located just steps from Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, The Tangerine is a remarkably preserved mid-century motel surrounded by the long-established production culture of Los Angeles. Positioned near The Walt Disney Company and The Burbank Studios, the property has deep connections to the entertainment industry and the atmosphere of classic Hollywood travel. Colorola was commissioned to reposition the motel through a complete hospitality branding program that respected the building’s history while preparing the brand for future expansion.

The project centered on restoring the original spirit of the property, much of which had been obscured through later renovations. Rather than leaning heavily on retro references, we developed a visual identity influenced by classic California roadside hospitality and the understated graphic style of mid-century Hollywood. The brand system included custom typography, illustration, signage, packaging, digital assets, and environmental graphics designed to support both the Burbank flagship and future locations.

In parallel with the visual rebrand, the project also modernized the motel’s online presence and guest communications, creating a more cohesive experience across print, digital, and environmental touchpoints. The result is a hospitality identity that feels closely tied to the surrounding film industry while remaining contemporary, practical, and distinctly memorable.
